Hello there citizen of the earth! Dauntless D.M.D. again, here to share his knowledge on one of the most popular and I think the first thing that people will think of when they hear the world "Dentist". That is.. *do we need a drum roll? naaah* It's the Orthodontic Braces, or just Braces as what everyone calls it. Its purpose is to of course straighten the teeth, and most especially to correct bites. (underbites, overbites, etc.)
We all know that braces are there to straighten our teeth, so lets just focus on the bites.

Some of you might say, "Oh come on, it's just a bite." but our bites are very very significant that it affects the overall appearance of the face. I've seen a lot of patients that my mom used to treat, and for more than 24 years, she has changed lives (char) through correcting bites. And hopefully I will too in the future. (WARNING: Only those dentists who specialized in Orthodontics have the right to offer orthodontic services, dont put your smile at risk, okay?) Anyway, my mom offers 2 kinds of braces. The Traditional and the Self-Ligating Braces.
The Traditional Braces are made of wires & brackets aaand multicolored elastics to bind the two. This one is the most common type of braces.

The second type is quite new, it is the Self-Ligating Braces, these are made of permanently installed clipped brackets & wires (without the elastics) that moves by itself as the alignment of your tooth changes. This type of braces is most recommended by modern dentists.
You can just let your dentist install the self-ligating braces and you'll surely go back to your dentist the second time with your teeth looking just like the pictures on the last row! Isn't it amazing? Surprising? Isn't it? XD
Why is it mostly recommended? For it has A LOT of advantages than the traditional one.
- It is just a one visit procedure. (Remember those long hours waiting for your turn? You're not the only patient ya know)
- It takes a shorter time to straighten your teeth. (What I had was the Traditional one, and it took me years to straighten my teeth) Self-Ligating only takes MONTHS.
- It saves time. (Time is Gold! We all have other stuffs to take care of. Monthly adjustments and waiting longer for appointments are such a burden)
- Food trapping in to your braces is eliminated! (Due to the absence of the elastics, worry less when eating hard solid food)
- Tooth movement is more efficient & comfortable. (We beat the no pain no gain quote here. Less pain, Less time spent, More gains!)
- It's holding strength is exceptional. (Worry less about having your brackets falling apart. Of course the strength varies on the composite used. And i'm very confident on what my mom uses.)
- Dentists are now slowly eliminating the traditional braces, for it also saves their time & effort. (Because their only work is to install & uninstall the self-ligating braces lol)
But my mom still offers both services, of course at a very reasonable prices without affecting the quality. Some dentists I know even ask for P100,000+ on Traditional braces and up to P250,000 on self-ligating braces, and I think that prices as high as those are just completely absurd. But also be aware of disgustingly low prices! Again, do-not-put-your-smile-at-risk-exclamation-point.
My mom offers Traditional & Self-Ligating braces at very reasonable rates depending on the severity of your teeth condition, so that's why she doesn't declare prices until she gets to check your teeth. (CHECK UPS ARE FREE! YAY!) I assure you, the prices are gonna be lower than you think but still, the quality of materials, brackets and composites are remained untouched. Prices also depend on the mode of payment (Full or Installment) Same goes with business, if you're going to pay full, you'll surely get bigger discounts.
